THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Charlie Chaplin celluloid figure. It is truly awesome. Huge at a full 10” tall. His arms are jointed & the elastic is a bit loose. He holds a pipe in 1 hand & the other hand has a finger pointing down. The Chaplin face is youthful but not boyish. His facial expression shows his amusement at the world of the Tramp. He has a big jaw.  He is wearing the classic Tramp outfit of the tight fitting suit jacket, the pants too big, the somewhat undersized derby hat & the oversized shoes. This may be the only Chaplin I have ever seen or owned that did not have a cane. It is not missing. It never had a cane. In addition, unlike all the other Japanese celluloid that I have owned Charlie has black hair & a black mustache & thin black eyebrows. Condition is excellent. The down pointing finger is a bit squished. There is a small piece of celluloid missing in the back of 1 shoe. There is some minor paint wear. This figure was played with. The toy is marked Made in Japan in back at the top of his suit coat well below the collar & there is a trademark which I would describe as an abstraction of a flying bird. Made circa 1930. The large shoes help to keep the figure standing & stable & the base is formed by letting the pants drape down in back so that when standing upright the figure rests on the back edge of his pants.
