Description
The Boeing 707 is a narrow-bodied airliner and first jet liner produced by Boeing Commercial Airplane Division. The initial 707-120 first flew on December 20, 1957. Pan American began regular 707 service on October 26, 1958. A total of 1,010 were manufactured in different variants until production stopped in 1979.Braniff International Airways was an American Airline that flew air carrier operations from 1928 until 1982. Braniff's routes were primarily in the midwestern and southwestern United States, Mexico, Central and South America. In the late 1970's it expanded to Asia and Europe. The airlines ceased carrier operations in May of 1982 due to high fuel prices, credit card interest rates, and extreme competition from new airline startups created by The Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. In 1983, former pilots of Braniff Airlines started Sun Country Airlines based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is still providing service today.
This Boeing 707 with registration number N7099 had its initial flight on July 16,1966. It was delivered to Braniff on July 27, 1966. It flew with Braniff until January 01,1971 when it was sold to Qantas Airlines. It ended its service career with Trans Mediterranean Airways in 1993.
