Description

The first production L-049 Constellation was the first model in the Constellation line. It made it's maiden flight on July 14, 1945. The Constellation was Lockheed's response to the successful Douglas DC-6. The aircraft was also produced for both the United States Navy as the WV/R7V and the United States Air Force as the C-121, for transport, electronics, and airborne early warning and control aircraft. A total of 856 Constellations of various models were manufactured. There are, unfortunately, only a few airworthy Constellations left today.
Braniff Airways, Inc., operating as Braniff International Airways from 1948 to 1965, and then Braniff International from 1965 until its closure, was an American airline that flew air carrier operations from 1928 until 1982. After the airlines demise, former Braniff pilots started Sun Country Airlines, based at the Minneapolis / St. Paul International Airport, and are still operational today.
Braniff had only two L-049 Constellations in their fleet. This aircraft (N2520B), was delivered to Braniff on 05 August, 1955. It flew until November of 1960, when it was sold to another carrier. N2520B eventually ended up with the Bolivian Air Force ( Fuerza Aerea Boliviana) in July of 1961 where It flew until its retirement and is currently being stored.
This beautiful 1:144 scale die-cast reproduction of this famous aircraft is a highly detailed, out of production and extremely difficult model to find model. It has a beautiful Braniff livery finish.
The approximate dimensions are 8.50" long with a 9.50" wingspan
. The model is new and only taken out of the box for photographing purposes to show the fine quality and detail. All sales are final. Shipping to the continental USA only.
NOTE: This is the only one available.
