    THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
    The Henry Trapeze celluloid wind-up toy (the smallest size with a figure that is 3 3/4” tall from head to toe) is in the original box. Toy was made in Japan circa 1934. The celluloid figure is in excellent original condition with no dents, cracks or repairs. Marked in back Made In Japan with the copyright symbol & the manufacturer's trade mark T inside a circle. The metal trapeze frame is excellent & measures 3 3/4” across & 6” high. Wind-up mechanism is working. The original box is complete but there is a cut in the bottom right corner & the colors are faded. The side skirts of the lid have tears or splits. The box lid has the Carl Anderson copyright information, the toy manufacturer's trademark(T inside a circle) & the name of the US distributor – Geo. Borgfeldt Corp. but much of this may be hard to read in my photograph because of fading. The 4 lithographed side skirts of the box lid picture Henry & others engaged in a variety of activities. Most interesting is the vignette of Henry riding atop a pig with the mahout sitting in front on the pig's head. This vignette echoes the Henry toy riding on top of an elephant with a mahout sitting on the trunk. In South Asia a mahout is a person who works with, rides & tends an elephant. Also adding to the box charm is the image of Henry giving a
    kiss on the
    cheek to a surprised Mammy - a cheeky kiss.
