Description
The first chapter takes us to Knoxville, TN for a photo charter with Southern Railway #154, a 2-8-0 Consolidation type built in 1890 by the Schenectady Locomotive Works. Donated to the city of Knoxville in 1953, it spent the next five decades on display in a park until tourist train operator Three Rivers Rambler restored it to operation. First we see 154 operating before being cosmetically altered to look like Tallulah Falls #78, also built by Schenectady as Southern Railway #202. It was sold to the Tallulah Falls Railroad in Georgia. Using Hollywood magic, charter organizers recreated 78 to capture scenes no longer possible.Next it’s Chattanooga, home of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, where we captured Southern Railway 4501 in action. The 2-8-2 Mikado was built in 1911 by Baldwin Locomotive Works. Retired from the Southern in 1948, 4501 has had a very active second career under a succession of owners.
Captured with tripod-mounted HD cameras - Running time approximately 39 minutes + scenes from other programs - Conveniently organized by chapters - Minimal narration
